Biografie

Katya Adler is the Europe Editor for the BBC. This means, in arguably the most turbulent period since the Second World War, she is the BBC’s Chief Correspondent, its main authority on Brexit and the EU, cross-border terror in Europe, the European migrant crisis, the rise of the populism, as well as the euro crisis and the fate of the European Union as a whole.

She provides her analysis and context on TV, Radio, her Europe Editor Blog on the BBC new website and her twitter handle BBCkatyaadler.

Fluent in 5 European languages (English, German, Italian, Spanish and French), she began her career at the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation in Vienna, working across Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Then she became a presenter on Deutsche Welle TV in Berlin before working for the BBC across Europe.

After that she moved to the Middle East for a number of years, specialising in war reporting across the region including from Gaza, Syria and Lebanon. She speak some Arabic and Hebrew.

Katya has also worked as a presenter on the BBC’s hard-hitting interview-based programme Hardtalk and as a news presenter on BBC World News.

She is a prize-winning writer, co-producer and presenter of a number of current affairs investigations and also  one hour documentaries, for example on Mexico's Drug Wars, After Brexit: the rise of populism in Europe and Spain's Stolen Babies about the role of politics and religion during decades of baby-trafficking in Spain.
