Biography
Lilianne Ploumen served as Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation from 2012 to 2017.
She was a member of Parliament of the Netherlands from 2017 to 2022 and was Leader of PvdA (Labour Party) until April 2022.
Lilianne Ploumen is a Dutch feminist activist, currently serving as Senior Advisor at Bureau Clara Wichmann, advancing women’s rights through strategic litigation and access to justice.
She initiated the She Decides movement in January 2017 that saw over 400 million US$ dollars pledged to organisations affected by the reinstatement of Global Gag Rule.
She has been promoting and defending human rights in her political capacities as well as in her work at several ngo’s, among them Mama Cash and Cordaid.
Lilianne Ploumen holds a Master’s degree from Erasmus University, Rotterdam.
