Jessica den Outer is the UN expert on the Rights of Nature. She is an expert, environmental advocate, international keynote speaker and storyteller. Jessica den Outer is the author of Rights for Nature. With her background in environmental law, Jessica den Outer offers a unique vision on system change and what each of us can do to contribute to this. Jessica den Outer has been a prominent advocate in the international movement for the Rights of Nature since 2017. With her background in environmental law, she offers a unique vision on system change and what each of us can do to contribute.

As a UN expert on the Rights of Nature, Jessica den Outer shares her extensive knowledge and experience with various examples from all over the world. In her keynotes and lectures, Jessica takes the audience on an inspiring journey through the Rights of Nature, from the Amazon rainforest in Colombia to the sacred rivers of Bangladesh, and from the initiatives in the Netherlands for the river Meuse, Amelisweerd, and the Wadden Sea.

I dedicate my career to protecting nature. I specialize in the Rights of Nature, in which my love for nature and interest in law come together.

Over the years, Jessica den Outer has given countless keynotes and lectures at international conferences and festivals, and for government organizations, NGOs, companies and universities. In 2023 she was invited to speak on behalf of the Netherlands in New York before the Secretariat General of the United Nations. She has given a guest lectures at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University and also speaks at music festivals such as Love Tomorrow during Tomorrowland. Her message is for everyone.

BIOGRAPHY JESSICA DEN OUTER
Jessica den Outer has a background in environmental law and has been involved in the international movement for the Rights of Nature since 2017. Den Outer contributed to international reports from the United Nations on this subject and speaks about these developments worldwide. In the Netherlands she advocates recognition of Rights of Nature. In March 2024, the Dutch NGO for Rights of Nature was launched, further stimulating the citizen movement on this subject. She has won several prizes for her commitment to nature.

In 2019, Jessica den Outer was appointed by the United Nations as one of the youngest experts in this field.

Jessica den Outer was spreker bij de zomerviering van het Humanistisch Verbond en ik was heel erg blij met haar inspirerende lezing. Het was duidelijk dat ze onze wensen rondom doel, doelgroep en context heel goed had verstaan. Haar verhaal klopte in het grotere geheel. Indrukwekkend ook hoe zorgvuldig ze omging met vragen uit het publiek. Ik kreeg enthousiaste reacties terug over hoe er een ander perspectief werd aangeboden om naar natuur te kijken. Heerlijk om haar bevlogenheid en expertise te zien, die echt van haar afspat. Ik heb heel wat presentatietrainingen gegeven aan professionals en studenten (dus ik ben best een kritische luisteraar) en deze spreker/professional staat als een huis.

We nodigde Jessica uit voor een opname van onze radioshow en diezelfde energie en passie galmde weer door de speakers. Je passie volgen is 1, maar het goed kunnen overbrengen is 2 en daar heeft Jessica echt talent voor!
