Biography
Erik Mouthaan is a Dutch correspondent in North America for RTL News The Netherlands. Since 2006, he has covered events in the US, Mexico, Canada and other countries on the continent. It is the fifth time that he has covered the American presidential elections.
In 2022, his bestseller 'New York, the dream city' was published by Nieuw Amsterdam publishers, where his book entitled 'Time for change: Barack Obama and the future of America' was published in 2008.
Erik Mouthaan was born in Leiden, lived in Limburg (South of The Netherlands) from the age of eight to eighteen, and graduated from the School of Journalism in Utrecht in 1996. After a short period at Utrechts Nieuwsblad, he has worked at RTL Nieuws The Netherlands since 1997. In 2000 he became a reporter specializing in the Royal Household, before being appointed correspondent. He is the longest-serving Dutch TV correspondent in the US.
