Would you like to instantly remember the name of a new customer? Hold lectures without notes or learn languages very easily? In his entertaining lectures which feature an exciting mixture of entertainment, show and memory training, Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad - the world record holder in memorizing names - shows an enthusiastic audience that anyone can bring their memory to peak performances! “Germany’s super brain” Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad will show you how fascinating and amusing learning can be.

Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad has been among the world elite in memory sport for years, and his enormous retentiveness has already been entered in the Guinness Book of Records several times. His enthusiasm for learning technique, learning methods and memory training has long since become a passion which he passes on to his audience in amusing and instructive memory shows with incredible experiments. Mnemonic techniques with the aid of watchwords and images have been tried for millennia and playfully easy to learn, but they have never been conveyed in such a lively manner!

The scientific fundamentals on which his knowledge of learning techniques and the retentiveness of the human brain are based are as profound as the gleet-footed way in which the memory expert presents his learning strategies: after his studies in physics and computer science, Dr. Boris N. Konrad earned his doctorate on the neuronal fundamentals of extraordinary memory performances at the Max Planck Institute. He is currently engaged in research as a neuroscientist at the Donders Institute in Nijmegen/Netherlands.

Three times he impressed viewers with his enormous retentive abilities in the German television show “Wetten, dass..?” (“Wanna bet, that...?”). He won the German TV show “Deutschlands Superhirn” (“Germany’s Super Brain”) with moderator Jörg Pilawa, and in Chinese television over 100 million viewers saw his performance in “The Brain”. For his hobby the memory trainer also makes his weight felt as President of “MemoryXL”: The European Memory Advancement Association is the world’s largest memory sports association.

In 2010, Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad received the “5 Sterne Redner Award” in the category "Best Newcomer" for his outstanding achievements as a speaker and in 2013 he received the “5 Sterne Redner Award” for extraordinary achievements.

Artificial Intelligence - Will we stay ahead of the robots?

In Hollywood’s science fiction movies, they have been providing a reliable success at the box offices for decades: Robots – either as a loyal companion on adventurous trips such as R2D2 or as villains that want to take over world dominion. But what is the reality? Global Topspeaker Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad knows the answer to that question. The computer scientist and brain researcher knows to what extent artificial intelligence (AI) has been developed and researched to date. And he provocatively asks: Will we stay smarter than the robots that continuously increase their knowledge?

In his presentation, the keynote speaker illustrates the role artificial intelligence is already playing in our everyday life and which inventions will be changing our lives in the future – starting from a music playlist that proposes suitable songs, to smart homes that automatically control the energy balance, up to self-driving cars that learn automatically and – according to Konrad - will reach the mass market in a few years already. In an entertaining and amusing way, he provides his audience with a fascinating and at the same time realistic insight into the world of AI and robots.

„Nowadays, the image of robots has almost been glorified and romanticized“, says the brain researcher. By now, however, we are quite far from the tin can with a winder on the back. Instead, there are computer programs that are already smarter than we humans - at least in some areas, explains Boris Nikolai Konrad: „However, we humans can also increase our intelligence, for instance by learning from machines or making use of the findings provided by brain research. Our willingness to do so will decide on whether we will continue to control computers in the future or if it’s going to be the other way round.“ Being amazed or getting the creeps goes hand in hand in his presentation as the scientific expert evokes both to the same extent in his audience, when he takes a look at the future of artificial intelligence.

But do we need to be afraid of AI? The Global Topspeaker explicitly names the dangers of the new technologies but also sees the potential of artificial intelligence, for instance in medicine or for companies: In his presentation, Boris Nikolai Konrad demonstrates how more precise predictions on customer behaviour can be made by using Big Data than by extensive surveys and market studies. The brain researcher gives specific recommendations on how companies – based on this data – can align their production, logistics and sales strategies and thus obtain a significant competitive edge. Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad is convinced: „Those who have the best algorithm will prove successful in the market.“

Contents of the presentation:

  • Science fiction versus reality: What can robots really do?
  • Chance or risk: What‘s the potential of artificial intelligence (AI)?
  • Big data: How algorithms work and how they make predictions
  • Automatization: How self-controlled programs influence our everyday life

Have them taking home your message

New services and products, a whole new brand, brand values, a new slogan or that one important key message: Often what sounded just and simple in the consultant’s presentation or directors briefing turns out to be very hard to memorize for the staff. A lot of new content is presented at one kick-off event, but everything is important. Usually, most people attending will only memorize fragments of it, if anything.

And beyond the information, the meeting should be fun as well as engage, motivate and encourage the attending people. With the highly individual keynote lecture, “Have Them Taking Home Your Message” by Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad, this is now possible! You will make sure that your message comes through. While the title is just a placeholder for your content, this fascinating speech will make sure it is all about your message!

Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad is a multi-Guinness World Record holder for memory, established neuroscientist and author. He knows how to engage every audience with his stunning performance. The participants will be amazed and motivated when they realize how much they can improve their own memory with simple exercises. And the best thing is that these interactive exercises will reveal YOUR message that everyone will remember.

The content can be multifold, as these real-life examples demonstrate:

1. New products and services

Real-world example: A medical device manufacturing company introduced a new product, which was presented at a fair to the sales staff of the distribution partners. They should not just remember the new product and its name, but also its advantages compared to rival products. For the presentation there was a time limit of 15 minutes only and the sales people would sit through many more presentations of competing companies.

Solution: Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad developed a fun and engaging mnemonic story and presented it to hundreds of salespeople of the distributors in a way that they immediately memorized all the new product’s advantages. While listing and joining in, they had so much fun that the presentation was voted the best of the whole fair.

2. Brands and slogans

Real-world example: Right from the advertising agency came a new corporate claim and advertising slogan. An employees’ event was organized to introduce it. The employees of all departments should not just hear the new slogan, but internalize the new corporate values and carry them on with passion.

Solution: Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad integrated the new corporate values into his interactive and fascinating keynote on memory training, and at the end, to a huge surprise and pleasure of the whole audience, it was revealed  that the examples within is talk actually made everyone memorize exactly these values together with the new corporate claim and advertisement slogan.

3. Difficult terminology

Real-world example: An American IT company organized a roadshow through Germany to bring a new software solution to the German market. The audience consisted of IT staff, buyers and various prospective customers from different industries.

Solution: Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad gave the keynote lecture at each side. The initially skeptical audiences turned into highly engaged ones through his interactive and fun talk and learned some easy mnemonic techniques to remember names, facts or complete speeches as well as difficult terminology and technical terms. He used examples from the different areas of application from the different industries the new software was targeted at to make the event personal for everyone in the audience. The IT company earned best marks for its roadshow from the prospects and celebrated a highly successful market launch.

4. “If you can only remember one thing

Real-world example: A company had its annual summer celebration with talks by the directors in the morning and a company party in the evening. The CEO gave the last speech and summarized the most important points. He closed by saying, “If you can only remember one thing of this morning, this is it!” Half a year later at the Christmas party, he asked his employees which message it was he had stressed so much. To his big disappointment, not a single person could remember.

Solution: For the next summer party, Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad was booked to give the keynote lecture. He took the CEO’s message and included it with a lot of humor into his engaging talk, having the audience memorize it word by word. The following Christmas, the CEO did not even have to ask before many employees enthusiastically approached him to tell him that they remembered every single word.

Future Brain - How technology changes our thinking

With the spreading of smart phones, digitisation presented us with a second brain for our trouser pocket. However, thanks to new technologies, our brain itself will also change in the future. In his presentation, the brain researcher, holder of a doctorate and Global Topspeaker Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad gives a ground-breaking overview of the latest questions and findings in brain research that very soon will have an impact on our private and professional life. How does our brain deal with the new media? The exceptional scientist shows his audience how our mind interacts with these new technologies, which opportunities and risks they harbour and how companies may prepare for these future developments in good time.

In his presentation, Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad takes his audience on a journey to the brain’s future. Based on current brain research, the memory expert gives recommendations on how companies can align their business models and strategies accordingly and thus be a “mental” step ahead of the competition.

Currently, Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad is working at the Dutch Donders Institute in Nijmegen, studying the impact of modern gadgets such as data glasses on our brain. He knows the topics neuroscientists are currently researching all over the world. He uses the term „future brain“, when he explains which research results soon will have an impact on our society. The experienced speaker and science slammer mixes fascinating and at the same time highly complex insider knowledge with humour and entertainment in this lively presentation. To the brain researcher, terms such as „systematic stimulation of the brain“ and „learning in your sleep“ are not science fiction but an opportunity to increase one’s mental performance and one’s power of concentration in everyday life. How this works is only one aspect Dr. Boris Nikolai Konrad addresses in his presentation.

Studies regarding the impact of diet and sleep on the activity of our brain also play a role. Furthermore, the researcher provides a fascinating insight into how scientists nowadays can read out information from our brain – techniques that bring new findings to light for the researchers but may just as well be exploited systematically by hackers.

Contents of the presentation:

  • Future brain: The latest findings in brain research
  • Change your brain: How future inventions will change our mental performance
  • Update your brain: How new technologies may improve our memory
  • Hack your brain: How our brain can be read out and be manipulated
